Somehow, I got the idea in my head that "bowl" should be pronounced differently. I made it my goal to convince my mom's cousin that indeed, "bowl" is pronounced "bowel." My reason? Well, "owl" is pronounced "owel," so why shouldn't bowl be the same way?
I made small booklets and presentations to give to my mom's cousin, though I never managed to convince her. When my parents came home, I proudly showed them my work and told them my reasoning. They didn't accept the idea either.
It wasn't until a few years later until I actually figured out what the word I was trying to change bowl to meant. Woops. That's awkward.

A ran into a similar problem a year after that. My friends and I had constantly heard stories about Bloody Mary and were extremely scared of her.
When we wanted to compare the anecdotes we had heard that day from various people, we would be too spooked to actually say her name. Instead, we called her BM.
Again, I told my mother proudly of the nickname we had come up with. And that's when I found out what it meant. That's awkward.

The last encounter I had with it was only a year ago. I was playing with another player on World of Warcraft so that we could help each other with quests (I'm sorry if you don't play the game. I'll try to elucidate all the geek-talk for you.).
Since we were both from the hunter class (we had pets and guns, but no magic; other classes could have magic, healing, heavy armor, etc), we ended up comparing our talents, or specialties for our class.
[Siophin] says: cool u have survival talent?
[mycharacter] says: ya
[mycharacter] says: lol u have BM?
WTF?! Why does this guy want to know about my poop? At this point, I had, in fact, figured out what the words and abbreviation usually meant.
[Siophin] says: umm what?
[mycharacter] says: beast mastery
[Siophin] says: oh, rite. ya
That's awkward.

And that concludes my adventures with those two letters, that one word. That's awkward.
